After spending sixty-seven years of my life, I have spent four decades teaching at universities. Some of the students I taught became teachers themselves. But, dear reader, I won’t list all my achievements before finishing this book. Instead, I’ll try to answer the question you raised at the beginning of this paragraph. You might not notice that I’m already sixty-seven years old. It’s not because aging isn’t yet visible on my face. Nor is it because if you knocked on my door now, a relatively small woman wearing simple clothes would open the door for you. Her hair is short and blonde, with black strands mixed in. She hardly has black hair at all. It’s not just because of these reasons… but also because, as I say, women like Ruda… as soon as the street seems relatively empty, they will stomp on every small stone they encounter, using their right foot to push those stones as far as possible.She acts just like a boy in his tenth year. The boredom of endless trips, where she has to deliver orders to households, and her desire to play—something that’s not possible due to her constant work—all of these feelings are replaced by the act of writing.
