Ala Marzouki tells the story of her city, Damascus, through narration and illustrations. She recounts the city’s history, its origins, and its prominent figures, as well as its inhabitants. She also describes the city’s development and the architecture of its homes. This story is told through the character of a young boy named Kaktakan, who fulfills his aunt’s request to create something he desires.
