This study explores a relatively new topic: the relationship between language and metaphor in human perception of the universe, as well as the concept of the relationship between the Creator and created things. In other words, it explores how various aspects of human activity—linguistic studies, religious studies, psychological studies—are connected through metaphor. The study is divided into two parts. The first part focuses on metaphor as a means of expressing human perception of the universe. It examines two fundamental forms of metaphor in modern Western civilization: the mechanical and organic forms. The second part of the study addresses a more abstract topic: the relationship between the perception of the universe and language, as well as the issue of the relationship between terms (labels, references, names) and their meanings (concepts, references, labels).The study reveals that the linguistic perspective, which holds that there is a relationship of connection and separation between the sign and its meaning, typically relies on the monistic view of God as the center of the universe. God is separate from the universe, yet he also governs it. He maintains a relationship of connection with the world, while at the same time being separate from it. There is thus a gap between the Creator and the created world. On the other hand, the perspective that sees a complete integration between the sign and its meaning, or a complete separation between them, relies on the symbolic view of God. According to this view, God is fully integrated within his creations, eliminating any gap between them. The Creator and the universe become one essence. The study also distinguishes between two types of language: the symbolic language, which has multiple levels and dimensions, versus the iconic and literal language, which is uni-dimensional and single-dimensional. Symbolic language expresses the monistic view of God as being separate from the universe, yet also connected to it. Iconic and literal language, however, represents the belief that God is embodied in the world, integrating himself with it.
