This book is a significant document in the history of science and the development of writing and translation during the 4th/10th century, which is rightly considered the golden age of Islamic civilization, when it flourished and reached its full potential in various fields of science and literature. The first and most notable feature of this book is its unique value and its importance in the history ofThe book relies on Arabic translations of Iberian historical sources. The author has chosen the topic of “The Layers of Physicians and Judges,” which, while being the first Andalusian work on this subject, reveals that other authors in the Islamic world had explored similar themes earlier.Our current research has uncovered a previously unknown manuscript, “The Index,” written by Abu al-Faraj Muhammad ibn Ishaq al-Nadimi in 377 AH (987 AD). This manuscript was created during the same year that Ibn Jaldun authored his own work. Ibn Jaldun appears to have relied on existing texts in Andalusia that addressed this topic. Given that the original language of the people in this region was Latin, some of the historical texts were translated intoDuring the fourth century A.H. / tenth century A.D., when Ibn al-Jujj lived, he relied heavily on “The Book of Paulus Orosios,” which he frequently referenced as “Herios.” He also drew upon works concerning Greek and Latin physicians. Furthermore, he utilized “The Book of Euron,” known in Greek as “Chronicon,” which was translated into Arabic as “Al-Qarwan.”
