Therefore, he mobilizes all his determination, all his sensitive feelings, and all his memory, which has extraordinary capacity for storing memories. He tries to build a strong barrier from all this, so that time cannot erode the values he desires to preserve. After all, these values are the most beautiful things that the human soul possesses. In “The Betrothal,” we see a world devoid of any unnecessary elements or additions. It’s a world of extreme simplicity and economy. It seems like a world of complete indifference or indifference itself. But beneath this deceptive indifference lies a world full of emotions, passions, and simple, yet profound human feelings.“صبري حافظ” and “بهاء طاهر” were born in 1935. They are among the most important Arab novelists of their time. “صبري حافظ” received the Mubarak Prize for Literature in 2009, and before that, he was awarded the State Award for Literature in 1998. His novel “واحة الغروب” won the Booker Arab Award in its first edition in 2008. So far, he has published six novels, among them “خالتي صفية والدير” in 1991 and “الحب في المنفى” in 1995. He also wrote five collections of short stories, along with literary studies, critiques, and translations.
