Tahawi Hussein dedicates this book to the study of that great conflict that occurred during the time of Uthman. Its effects continued even after the time of Ali. Muslims still bear the consequences of that conflict to this day. In his literary style, he attempts to discuss one of the most sensitive issues in Islamic history. The author also tries to adopt a “historical neutrality” approach, avoiding any bias or prejudice. He aims to uncover the true causes behind that conflict, which led to the killing of Uthman, by analyzing the situation of Islamic society at that time.
