Mizuki Shigeru: In 1965, he won the sixth prize in the “Kudanshha” children’s cartoon competition for his work “The Television Lord”, which was published in the magazine “Bessatsu Shimbun”. That same year, a memorial museum was opened in his hometown, Sakai Minatoo.In 2007, the French version of “Grandmother Nononpa and I” won the grand prize at the Angoulême International Illustration Festival in France. In 2008, the French version of “We Will All Die with Honor” won an award at the “Tradition of Illustration” festival. In 2010, “Mizuki Shigero” received the prestigious Cultural Excellence Award.
