One of the very famous novels in Turkey was written by the Turkish novelist and Nobel Prize winner, Orhan Pamuk. The story is about a young Italian scientist in the 17th century who sets out on a naval journey from Venice to Naples. During his journey, he falls into the hands of Ottoman pirates and is sold at the market in Istanbul to a Turkish scientist who is eager to learn from the Western world’s knowledge. After learning each other’s secrets and sins, they decide to work together towards a better future.
